Applicants will indicate their interest in certain courses at the time they apply, but the final course registration will take place after acceptance and closer to the program start date, with detailed instructions provided by the AIFS Abroad Program Advisor.<\/p>\n<p>Acceptance into the program is not a guarantee of enrollment in a specific course. Students will list their primary courses and several alternative courses for approval by their home campus to allow for flexibility during final course registration. During the registration period a course may quickly fill, and a student might need to be on a course waitlist and register for an alternate option. Assignments will progress from specific exercises intended to build on techniques to complex projects which will include out of doors landscape paintings of the hills around Florence and of the beautiful gardens of the city but also still life and figure painting. The works of the masters in this genre from its origin to Henri Cartier-Bresson, Helen Levitt, and Robert Frank will be analyzed and provided as a source of inspiration. The course has a strong on\u2013site component and students will be guided to identify meaningful \u2018local&#8217; subjects and acquire confidence in photographing people on the streets and in a variety of different situations. Prerequisites: Introductory plus intermediate coursework in photography (or equivalent), or advisor approval. Required Equipment: A digital single lens photographic camera (DSLR), or Mirrorless: 12,0 megapixels minimum, with an optical zoom lens or a set of interchangeable prime lenses (wide angle and standard\/telephoto lens).  Laptop, with any photo editing software (Lightroom, Capture One, Photos, Photoshop or any similar).
