Students typically take 4 courses per semester from across 34 university departments. Students may choose up to 6 3-credit courses but, to ensure a manageable workload, we recommend a maximum of 5.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Irish Cultural Heritage Certificate Program:<\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Students choose either ID 001 (3) Introducing Irish Cultural Heritage or ID 012 (3) Introducing Settlement and Society in Early Ireland and then select three additional courses from a predetermined list.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Certificate in International Business Program:<\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><br \/>\nStudents choose 2 courses from a predetermined list plus 2 further courses from within the business modules at Maynooth University. This top-down approach has many advantages pedagogically. Teaching networking applications near the beginning of the course is a powerful motivational tool. In the first few lectures students learn about how networking applications work\u2014applications such as e-mail and the Web, which most students use on a daily basis. Once a student understands the applications, the student can then understand the network services needed to support these applications. The student can then, in turn, examine the various ways in which such services might be provided and implemented in the lower layers. The transport, network, link and physical layers are covered in similar detail; in each case the service models that are required from the layer above is used for motivation to understand the principles and protocols of the latter below. The gender differential in criminal offending has been one of the most persistent findings in criminology and recent work has tackled the question of why men commit disproportionately more crime than women. Current events worldwide, including conflicts in Ukraine, Syria, DRC, and South Sudan, highlight once more the devastating effect that conflict can have on the lives and prospects of millions of people globally and create pressures for internal displacement and migration. Human migration is a central story to us as a species and has existed since our migrations out of Africa. Some academics have described the current era as the Age of Migration due to the changes in migration trends caused by events such as prolonged conflicts; environmental factors; the growth of middle-income economies; population growth, and the facility of movement in an era of globalisation and connectivity. These changes have made migration a more visible and contested issue and attracted the media and political elites&#8217; interest. Nevertheless, much about the relationships between migration, conflict &amp; security are misunderstood. This module will explore these relationships. AIFS Abroad students must make special arrangements to transfer credits, but since AIFS Abroad courses are given at recognized universities or the AIFS Abroad Centers (which are transcripted by Fairfield University), there usually is no difficulty in arranging transfer credit toward U.S. degrees provided the proper procedure is followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"block-card\">\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"block-card__content\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-european-credit-transfer-system-ects\">European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the European institutions that AIFS Abroad works with award credits under the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). ECTS enables cooperating institutions to measure and compare a student\u2019s performance and facilitates the transfer of credits from the European institution to the U.S institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"block-card\">\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"block-card__content\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-common-european-framework-of-reference-cefr\">Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Language levels are defined according to the CEFR and will be listed on your transcript on completion of the program. CEFR organizes language proficiency into six levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) which can be regrouped into three broad levels according to the needs of the local institution: Beginner: A1, A2\/U.S. Level 100; Intermediate: B1, B2\/U.S. Level 200-300; Advanced: C1, C2\/U.S. Level 400<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"block-card\">\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"block-card__content\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-transcripts\">Transcripts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you complete your program, an official transcript is sent to your home institution directly from&nbsp;AIFS Abroad or the host university.&nbsp;Another official transcript may be retained by&nbsp;AIFS Abroad in Stamford, but this is not the case for all programs. Please contact&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:transcripts@aifs.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transcripts@aifs.com<\/a>&nbsp;to find out how to request additional transcripts.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>Generally, your school should receive your transcript&nbsp;60 days after completion of the program.&nbsp;(Cannes Semester programs,&nbsp;Perth, Sydney, Dublin, Limerick, and Wellington&nbsp;Programs&nbsp;exception: Transcripts issued&nbsp;and retained&nbsp;by&nbsp;the host&nbsp;universities. Grading may involve exams, papers, individual projects, class discussion or some combination of these. Although academic institutions abroad may grade on a variety of scales, admissions counselors and registrars at U.S. institutions are familiar with international grading systems and can convert grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"block-card\">\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"block-card__content\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-course-selection\">Course Selection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>AIFS Abroad Program Advisors are available to assist you in the process.
