is required to receive full credit. Students exceeding the permitted number of absences may lose all or partial credit.<\/p>\n<p>Students take one 3-credit course. Courses taken for transfer credit should be approved by your advisor or appropriate person at your home school prior to registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Credits<\/strong> are indicated by course. Credits for each course are equal to American credits based on one credit for a minimum of 15 classroom hours plus home study. Classes are taught Monday through Friday for a total of 45 hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transcripts<\/strong> are issued by Fairfield University, the AIFS Abroad School of Record. An official transcript will be sent directly to the student&#8217;s home university on completion of the program. Generally, transcripts from programs at our Global Education Centers or traveling programs reach the home university 8-12 weeks after final grades are submitted.<\/p>\n<p>No AIFS participant is permitted to take a course without receiving a grade. Pass\/Fail grade options are not available.<\/p>\n<p>The course offering on this program is subject to change pending anticipated enrollment. Applicants will indicate their interest in certain courses at the time they apply, but the final course registration will take place after acceptance and closer to the program start date, with detailed instructions provided by the AIFS Abroad Program Advisor.<\/p>\n<p>Acceptance into the program is not a guarantee of enrollment in a specific course. Students will list their primary courses and several alternative courses for approval by their home campus to allow for flexibility during final course registration. During the registration period a course may quickly be filled, and a student might need to be on a course waitlist and register for an alternate option. We will study the sophisticated construction processes, the use of materials and building practices that made possible the completion of such monumental and long-lasting structures. The focus will be on Italy and the Italians. This course in cross-cultural psychology, through elements of sociology, ecology, anthropology, biology, sociology, gives students the opportunity to discuss the shaping and deployment of human attitudes, behavior, values, communication process and social organization. Specific attention will be devoted to issues such as the individual vs the social, mental health and cross-cultural communication. Students will engage in field research, conducting interviews on topics related to their own study abroad experience while visiting various locations in Rome and Italy. AIFS Abroad students must make special arrangements to transfer credits, but since AIFS Abroad courses are given at recognized universities or the AIFS Abroad Centers (which are transcripted by Fairfield University), there usually is no difficulty in arranging transfer credit toward U.S. degrees provided the proper procedure is followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div class=\"block-card\">\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\t<div class=\"block-card__content\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-european-credit-transfer-system-ects\">European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of the European institutions that AIFS Abroad works with award credits under the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
